WHAT WILL BE IN NEXT WEEK'S MINI-BUDGET?

Given that Tourism Ireland, in a revised forecast, has just indicated that there could be a decline of up to 9% in visitor numbers to the island of Ireland this year, might we hope for wisdom to prevail and that some relief be offered to the sector in next week budget? As an island, air access to Ireland is more important to us than to any other European country. We do not have a choice of alternative transport options to choose from. At a minimum, the €10 Air Travel Tax introduced in the December budget should be abolished.
