It's great to see Department of Foreign Affairs taking the initiative to host the Global Irish Economic Forum from September 18-20. The event, originally conceived by David McWilliams, is designed to harness ideas for our economic future from the most successful members of the global Irish community. Invited delegates with a tourism & hospitality background include Gerald Lawless, Executive Chairman, Jumeirah Group, Alan Joyce, CEO Quantas, Sir Gerry Robinson, Chariman, Moto Hospitality Ltd and James Hogan, CEO Etihad Airways. Hopefully the event will highlight the importance of putting tourism centre stage in our economic recovery.
