For those with an interest in global travel trends , Euromonitor International recenly launched its 2009 Report. Global arrivals are expected to decline by 8%, hotels by 16% and air sales by 14% this year. In July, business travel revenues were down by 40% compared with 2008. This has hugely affected scheduled airlines, meetings and incentives, conference organisers, luxury hotel chains and corporate travel agents. A full return to 2007 levels for travel & tourism is not expected until 2013. Meanwhile, today, the CSO revealed that visits to Ireland for September 2009 returned to 2004 levels. The numbers are down 13.9% from September 2008 and down 11.2% for the first nine months of this year. Not surprisingly, Irish people made 10.7% fewer overseas trips in the same period.
