I have often wondered why most hotel rooms are designed in such a way that the bed never faces the window! A window facing bed creates a much greater sence of space and if the view happens to be nice, it's an added bonus. Starwood were the first major group to consider this when it designed its Aloft brand. Closer to home, the newly opened Fitzwilliam Hotel Belfast has designed its bedrooms this way and they work really well.
