Go, the travel magazine of The Irish Times advised readers last Saturday to 'Put April 23rd in your diary and be ready to hop on to www.lastminute.com at 10am, when it will release hotel rooms for €10 a night in May, June and July. Some of Dublin’s best three- and four-star hotels will be included'. I also got notification of the sale from lastminute.com to my email. Out of interest, I logged on at 10am, clicked the link provided and was directed to the £10 sterling UK sale. I then tried the .ie address and found only two participating hotels. I could not book anything at all and was re-directed back to the generic booking page. A lot of fuss for a very badly devised and poorly executed promotion. No wonder travel websites find 'customer loyalty' a bit of a struggle!
